A: No. We are from six different states (Iowa, Nebraska, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania). Most of us met during college in Illinois and moved here together, kept playing music, and picked up a great bassist and friend in the process.
Q: Why the name "Mendelssohn"? It's hard to spell.
A: Yes, it is hard and a little annoying to spell. We've had the name for five years, so we're stickin' with it!
Q: How long have you been a band?
A: Jon F, Sarah, Jake, and Pete have been playing together since 2007. As the songwriting and arrangements evolved the band grew to its current size of six, with the addition of Dan W. in 2010 and Dan V. in 2014.
Q: Do you have any music recorded?
A: YES! In the spring of 2008, we recorded a self-titled EP of eight original songs. We ended up not pressing it in favor of recording a more definitive EP. In 2009-2010, we recorded our double EP titled Living & Dwelling (available here) in various studios and our living room in Illinois. After relocating to Montana, we released a couple of 3-song digital-only EPs through the website. Those have since been taken down, as several of the songs from those efforts have been rerecorded and will be released on our first LP due in early 2015.
We have been overwhelmed with the generosity of the people and the tremendous amount of support within Missoula’s artistic community, and we are happy to call Missoula home!
